The USB Drive

It was half-buried in the dirt, nestled among the gnarled roots of a dying tree. A simple, black USB drive, covered in grime, glinting in the fading daylight.

I don’t know why I took it. Curiosity, I guess. A thing like that, out here in the middle of the forest, didn’t make sense.

I pocketed it and headed home.

That night, after dinner, I plugged it into my laptop.

There was only one folder. No name, just a long string of numbers. I opened it.

Inside were hundreds of images.
